Mom with a child, Banned 5 yrs for living in U.S. Illegally

My mother lived in the United States Illegally and was caught trying to cross the border from Canada (which she is orignally from) into the United States (in Oct 2005). My mother has 2 children (including me but I am 18) and she has a Husbend that is from the United States, The child (who is 2 yrs old) is an american and she is now taking caring him in Canada. My mom was banned for 5 years crossing into the United States so the queston is...does she have a Case and if so, can she reduce her banned time?
