The Case of the Absent Father
My question involves paternity law for the State of: Illinois
When I was 16, I had a little boy that I gave to my 30 something cousins whom could not have children. The father wanted nothing to do with the child at the time, claiming the baby wasn't his. Later on, he signed over his rights to the child in court, as did I right after him. Now, he is threatening to take me to court for not having him sign the birth certificate. I do not think he has a legal leg to stand on, and wish to have this confirmed by someone who knows about this. Signing over your rights as the legal father means you acknowledge the paternity of that child, and consequently, are relinquishing them, meaning now you have no legal rights to the child, as well as can no longer take legal action, correct? :wallbang: This has me going crazy! Someone simply tell me he cannot get me for anything anymore! :(
Re: The Case of the Absent Father
He's going to take you to court for what? What did you do? If he wanted to pursue his rights as a father, he had that opportunity back before he signed away his rights.
Re: The Case of the Absent Father
I didn't do anything! I just kept a mutual friend up to speed on how my son is doing, and he saw the pictures, as did his NEW GIRLFRIEND! Now she's all jealous, and even faked a pregnancy, because HER man is still in love with ME. :wallbang: <---- I feel like doing that every time this comes up. He doesn't want to pursue his rights as a father, he simply wants to make her happy, for what reasons, I don't know. I am just glad to know that he doesn't have any way to get at me anymore. Her on the other hand, has threatened me, and my life. Not directly, but through this mutual friend. They may not have a legal leg to stand on, but I sure as heck may! (And she is an ex cop, so she will get an even nastier sentence if convicted! ;)) THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP! {If you wish to contact me directly, please reply to alloranoel@herzeleid.net}. Thank you.
