I want my husband to adopt my daughter

My husband of a year and a half loves my two year old with all his heart. He is the only man that she has ever known. After her biological father tried to push me down the stairs I left him, and he never tried to contact me or his little girl. I met my husband when she was 1 year old and sence that day she and he were father and daughter. But now she is going to school and she does not know and we don't want her to know that her daddy is not her daddy. What do we have to do to have my husband to adopt her and be her legal father. Please tell me what to do.

Step-parent adoption laws vary by state. There are Covingtons in Ohio, Washington, Kentucky, Virginia, and Georgia, so you'll need to be more specific.

I have a similar situation. My daughter is now 7. She knows that my husband is not her biological father, but has never been in contact with her biological father at all. We have been together since she was 2 and she has always known my husband as Daddy. We live in Florida. I have no idea where the biological father is, nor do I have any of his personal information. There is no one listed as father on her birth certificate, but I don't know if that removes his rights or not. Please help! Thanks, Kathy.
