Caught Shoplifting Florida 1st Offense

My question involves criminal law for the state of: florida

I was caught shoplifting and was sent to a back room at walmart and i have to go to court and i dont know what to expect and should i plea guilty or not guilty the amount was 52$ and what am i to expect????

Going without an attormey would be seriously foolish

ps - Don't be surprised if you receive a letter from WM, their
attorneys, or a third party for restitution. This is called
a civil Demand and can be up to $500

i can not afford one and do they appoint one when i get there and what should i plea my court date is tomorrow

If you cannot afford an Attorney request a public defender

so when i get there i should request a public defender

You contact the court and ask if you can do so ahead of time but that is not likely

When you are arrainged (read the charges) and asked to plead Guilty
or Not Guilty . . . plead Not Guily and a PD will be appointed for you

Plead Guilty and no PD

what do u think will be the fines, prob, jail might be.

Court fines will be less than $500.00
Jail is unlikely

so my best bet is to plead guilty or not guilty i know you cant answer this for my but if it was you what would you do thank you for any answer you give me

Yes we can answer that. If you plead guilty its over and judge will sentence you. If you plead not guilty your case will be continued and you can talk to an Attorney

so if i do plead guilty what could i see any jail time and will i be able to get it expunged from my record

Your better off pleading not guilty and talking to an Attorney about a deal which "might" include Diversion
