Its gotten to the point she is just ready to run away or kill herself.
Oh, drama.
If she runs away, the authorities will just drag her back, and if she tries to kill herself, she'll be hospitalized, treated, and sent back to her parents. Tell her not to be stupid.
She's not a candidate for emancipation.
Re: Emancipation in Indiana
No. Based on what you have provided there is no way for her to be emancipated, and the only way she can live with your family is if her parents give her permission to do so.
In no state does, "I don't want to move and leave my boyfriend/girlfriend/school/friends/fill in the blank with the answer of your choice" a valid reason for emancipation.
Re: Emancipation in Indiana
I am 17 years old and won't be eighteen until next summer. I want to become emancipated for many reasons against my mother, but I was wondering if I could still have a good chance at becoming emancipated even though I don't have a job at the time but am trying hard to get one. And I also have a place to go with someone to help me out until I get a job. And even though once I get a job I can still continue to live there.
Re: Emancipation in Indiana
Emancipation is about SHOWING a court that you are ALREADY self supporting. When you've held a job for 6 months or more that would allow you to support yourself WITHOUT the assistance of someone else, get back to us.
In the meantime, read the top two stickies on this page.
Re: Emancipation in Indiana
Unless you, yourself, with no help from anyone, can pay all of your rent, food, clothing, utilities, transportation, medical care, insurance, school fees and supplies, and all the other incidentals of life, then no, you cannot be emancipated. How you plan to do that without a job is beyond me. "I'm trying hard to get a job" is NOT going to cut it.
