Alaska Governor Sarah Palin Abused Her Power by LETTING Her Husband
Palin Abused Power in Trooper Case, Alaska Probe Says (Update1)

    By Tony Hopfinger

Oct. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Alaska Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by letting her husband press for the firing of a state trooper, a legislative probe found, while adding that she acted within her authority when she dismissed the state's public safety commissioner.

``Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda,'' said the state legislative investigator's report released yesterday in Anchorage. The report also said Palin's dismissal of the commissioner, Walt Monegan, was a ``proper and lawful exercise'' of her power to fire department heads for any reason.

    etc.

    Okay...this is NOT political. Really.

But how can someone (especially a governor fer cryin' out loud) get in trouble for "knowingly permitt[ing] a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda''?

(If you must know, I wouldn't vote for Sara Palin for Mayor of Moose Turd, Montana. But this sounds like a load of crap to me.)

By "letting her husband"? As opposed to subletting him? ;)

That sounds like an abuse of office to me. One blown out of proportion, but not so much by the media or investigators as by Palin's decision to stop cooperating with the investigation and to do nutty things like issuing her own report exonerating herself.

I think this would have blown over pretty quickly had she said, up front, "I made a mistake by letting my personal feelings cloud my judgment, and although my firing of Monegan was 100% appropriate, legal and justified on other grounds, I apologize for allowing my personal life to intrude in my executive decision-making. It's a mistake I won't repeat."

But you know, politicians in this country only take "responsibility" for things when they know there is zero chance that they will be held accountable.

That and her very public remarks about how hard she's worked to fight corruption within her own party generally. But apparently not within her own administration personally.

    Word up.

Politics aside, it simply isn't too bright to pull illegal stunts like this if one is going to make a big issue about the corruption of others.

It "sounds like a true politician" to suggest that politicians should be held responsible for their bad choices and bad conduct? Whatever.

Can't be me, I don't like public speaking
Besides, I don't have the sorted life required to be in the public eye, mines pretty boring. I also won't raise health care salaries. I can tell you that there are many quite OVER paid. I would also cut teachers salaries (and I'm gonna catch heck for that one). And I make that comment based on my status in the teachers union.
