    Responsibility for Deceased Father's Medical Bills
    My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Georgia

    My father passed away suddenly he had no will and no life ins. Me and my bother are the only heirs. The only thing he has in some poperty. My question is I got some medical bills of his in the mail from 1997, 1998 and 1999 will we have to pay these old bills? We have filed in probate court also and if you could tell me how probate court works too that would be helpfull. Thanks.

    Probate in general can be discussed in your other thread.

    You can read about the process of paying the decedent's debts here. For debts that old, granting that exceptions may apply, the personal representative may wish to try denying payment based upon the expiration of the statute of limitations.
