First Time Ticket in Texas
My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: Texas
I know I'm pretty much at fault for this, as I was pulled over today supposedly going 28 mph in a school zone (20). I didn't check my speedometer while I was driving, nor when I was told to stop, so I'm going with what the cops were saying.
I guess while I was driving I had just felt to relaxed and felt that I had still been driving at 20ish (low), until when I was told to move into the parking lot (the cop walked on the street and motioned towards the parking lot where others were being pulled in). Supposedly clocked me at 312 feet or something with the radar gun. He never showed me it, which I probably should have asked to see because I really don't feel I went 28 (but I have no evidence so this is scratched).
Anyways, my question is, what will be the repurcussions of my ticket? How much will my fine be/will I be able to take Defensive Driving or something so that it doesn't stay on my License? If it helps any at all, I'm also 18 years old.
also: why does it seem like most cops feel the need to be so rude when talking to people? that's pretty much the assumption I had when talking with him.
Re: First Time Ticket in Texas
For a school zone you need to check to be sure the signage is correct. Since it is double fine and points, I would show for court and try to get it reduced to a 5 over no points ticket. If they won't deal you can always ask for a jury trial.
