Shoplifting in Michigan

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan

I tried to shoplift an iten from Meijers, and I got caught as I was leaveing. A lady came up to me and asked that I would step into her office for a moment. when we got there I told her what I had done, and returned the item. They made me sign a form saying that I confessed. and I have to pay a fine for 10x the ammount, This is my first time ever doing anything like this, so she didnt call the police. I was wondering, she said that it wouldnt go any farther then that room if I paid the fine. Do they normal still file a police repot? and if so, How long will it be on my record? This was a stupid thing to do, and I really regret it. But I need to face the consequences of what I have done...
