Charges Dropped, but Court Order Breach Not
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ontario, Canada
I'm a health care practitioner who was charged with a domestic assault. Unaware of this charge I had a warrant out for my arrest. Three months later I was picked up, and as a result of that was given a court order not to consume alcohol until my next court date. Two days before my next court date I was picked up for drinking, violating the court order. Now the assault charge is being dropped however the breach of the court order is what they're looking at now. This is my first offense. I've been in alcohol addiction counseling for a month prior to being picked up for the assault warrant.
My question is since my assault charge is being dropped and I'm facing charges for the court order breach, what steps could I possibly take now to avoid this ending up on my file? I'm trying to avoid having this end up on my record. Thanks

You can hope that the judge is the forgiving sort.
Personally, I would consult a lawyer.
