I live in the state of Illinois and i was recently charge with retail theft, i was given a $1000 bail bond which i paid 10% of already. I have a court date and would like to know if anyone can tell me what the consequences will be and if i can go to jail for this.

it was an item less than $25. I don't have an attorney. Do u think i should get one

Show up for court, plead not guilty, and ask for a public defender if you can't afford private counsel.
