Chances of Emancipation
Hi guys i am a 17 year old girl, i wont be 18 until July. My brother, my mother, my sister, and I all lived together. For a couple years my brother has been physically and verbally abusive to me. Recently we got into a huge fight and he threw me against some metal stairs. He is 25, and wont move out of the house. My mother is very scared of him which is part of the reason she is not making him move out yet. She has told me that she would sign for me to be emancipated. I make good grades, and have NEVER in my life even been to the office at school. I'm currently looking for a job, but haven't had much luck yet. Do you think that i will be denied emancipation, and what steps do i take for this process?

Re: Your
Yes you'll be denied. Do some research.
The next time your brother touches you call 911! He may not WANT to leave, but he will. You don't have to move....he's 25, time he go and you and your mom can sleep in peace at least for a night or two.

Emancipation laws are different in each state. Read this and this.
