Probate Court Fees
My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: Texas
Does anyone know what the attorney fees are (more or less) for an estate with no will worth less than $20,000? We are already going to court in 2 wks against the girl my brother dated before his death. She claims to be the common-law wife. We have plenty of proof against this & our attorney says this case is so easy, we could represent ourselves. My brother didn't own much & with all the proof we have we're confident in discrediting her. I'm just wondering if our attorney is overcharging us. He tried to charge us $500 for a background check on the girl but he quickly backed down when I told him I could do it online for less than $50. Thanks in advance for any advice!

Re: Probate Court Fees
Thank you. I've visited that site before but it didn't help much, since we are contesting the girl's claim of common-law wife & attorney fees in those types of cases have been hard to research. We know that if she wasn't giving us a hard time we could've just filed the affidavit & avoided hiring an attorney altogether. :(
