Refund Laws

My cousin just told me a story that earlier this year he intentially purchased items at a store that were on sale, went across town, and returned them to another store selling them at their full price. This did not involve shoplifting at all, but I think it is retail/refund fraud.

I haven't been able to find any specific statute or law saying this is illegal, but I am curious if there is actually a law for this. We are in central Nebraska, and our legislative website doesn't bring anything up.

Can someone out there point me to the statute/law showing this is illegal in Nebraska?

It's a refund scam, you could be detained for fraud if they figure it out. Your question sounds like you're asking if it's OK to do this......that would be NO!!

And, no I certainly do not think it is OK to do this. That is why I knew it must have a law to back it up but just wasn't able to find it.

Please explain to me why any sales are legal in light of this.

Stores do not reveal the price they pay, manufacturers do not reveal their costs, Gas companies don't reveal the huge profits they make on each gallon of gas they sell. They in fact "Prevent another from acquiring information which would affect his judgment of a transaction"

so, what am I missing here?

I have a question............ So in this case for instance lets say i go to
Target in Intercept A Buy something on clearance from 10$ which is now 1$
Take it to Intercept B and return it with no reciept for 10$ or say i bought it at full price..... Is there any way for the store to identify that the item was bought at 1$?

I believe Target has a policy, where you have no receipt, of accepting returns at the lowest sales price it has offered within the prior ninety days. That's supposed to be coordinated between stores. So they don't try to identify where you bought it - they simply accept the return for $1 unless you can demonstrate that you paid more.
