Out of Control Party
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Maryland
Last weekend my son who is a sophmore in high school went to a birthday party for girl at another girl's house. The parents of the girl who was hosting were there the entire time and supervised the party. At the party were over 200 kids from many different schools and in many different grades. The parents allowed all the children to drink alcohol. The party ended after a fight broke out and the mother kicked all of the minors out.
My question is do can the parents be charged with anything? What do I need to do?

Call the police.
The parents can be charged with several very interesting charges.

Re: Out of Control Party
The real question here is why they haven't already been charged.
Did the cops show up? 200 people is a very LARGE amount of kids, it would be hard for me to believe that the police were unaware. Have you tried going to the house and asking them if they are aware if alcohol was being served at their house?
On a side note....I highly encourage all parents of teenagers to get a police scanner. You would be amazed as to how much time the cops spend breaking up parties of underaged kids. They always give the address over the scanner...so I know where mine are NOT allowed to go. The best part is when we ask them if they heard about the party on Smith Lane that got broken up by the cops. They are clueless as to how we find out what goes on.
