Possible Emancipation in Forida
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Florida
Hi. I'm 17 years old and just moved to Florida a few weeks ago. I graduated college a year early and I already have a year of college done.
Here's what's going on. I currently am being trained for a job. Other than that I have nothing else to do. I just moved here so I'm still getting used to the area and such. So I've been just wandering around the house playing video games. My parents decided that I either need to get some solid shifts at work or pick up a second job. Unless I am doing college. Otherwise I will not be allowed in the house at all, the exception being to eat and sleep.
My mother's thoughts are that if I'm not working at least 4 to 5 days a week then I am going to either have to find another job, or get something to occupy my time outside the house.
That's reasonable to a point. But my problem is that I don't want to have them kicking me out of the house, simply because I just moved here and don't know where anything is. And I have been looking around at things I could do.
I asked for an early graduation because they were doing this to me at that time too. I found a friend and started spending like 4-5 days a week away form the house. During which time I provided for myself.
Well, I have enough money from my graduation to buy a ticket back to WA where I came from. I already have a place to stay there that I can rely on. All I need to do is find a job, which shouldn't be hard to do. While I'm out there I'll be close to a college, I have a college plan that will pay for everything other than books for four years, and I'd be supporting myself.
But before I leave, I'd like to get my emancipation. I don't know the Florida state laws on that issue, which is why I'm asking you.
So... what is the FL state law for emancipation?

You need both parents' approval, proof you can support yourself, and the ability to read the sticky at the top of this thread.
