    Caught Shoplifting with Scissors
My question involves criminal law for the state of: GA

ok so. im 16. and a couple of buddies and i wanted to get stuff cuz we were being idiots. so Loss Prevention said that he saw my friend put the shirt he wanted on a rack and saw me put it in my bag. we were 40 ft out of the store when he grabbed me from behind(in a nice way at least) and made me go with him to the security office.

so then, i was charged with a felony because another man asked, "do u have anything that can kill me?" so i thought large scissors? that can kill someone. so i pulled out the tool from my abck pocket still thinking aobut the killing question. and honestly, i had no idea that it was a felony to use a tool. i didnt even intend to use it at their store. i just had it in my pocket! all i did was put a shirt in my bag. should i have been charged for having it in my pocket? plus, i never admitted to using it. they just assumed that i used it, but really i just answered the mans question about killing him :( i should have thought that over.

ive already paid a $150 fine to bloomingdales or else theyd sue me. and im still waiting for my court date thing. but some friends have been trying to help me out by answering questions.and they said that there sould be another fine coming soon. if there is anyway i can clear my name PLEASE let me know. this was rally a life long lesson that i will not try again.

You are lucky you weren't charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
