Re: Getting a Gun Licence
Okay, you got the security license right? you have a class d license? Speaking as someone who is also liscensed to be a security guard, i can tell you exactly what was covered in the classes you were legally required to take to get your frst license. In order to get any of those licenses, you cannot have a felony on your record. The same applies to owning a firearm and having a concealed weapons permit. That said, if your security license is valid, you should be cool to get a gun too.
Remember tho. You can't work an armed post with a concealed weapons permit. You must have a class G security license. That license only allows you to use the weapon provided to you by your employer and you may only use it while you are on duty. It does not allow you to carry a concealed weapon off duty. At the same time, When you work security, you are not allowed to use your own personal firearm on duty even if you have a concealed weapons permit. You may only use what is given to you my your employer (that means only the gun they give you and only the bullets they give you). So your question really asks multiple things.
To qualify for the armed security license, you must pass a g license course and maintain your D license as well. to concealed weapons permit, you simply have to qualify with the gun you want at a certified gun range and apply for the license.
Also, My answers are all coming directly from information listed by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. This is in no way legal advise. Im just paraphrasing a website run by the florida state government. t a licensed security guard, geting a weapons permit is meaningless as you are already commiting a felony and should stop now until you have a license.
