CVC 23224a Possession

My question involves criminal law for the state of: riverside county, California

hey guys need some help,

Story (exact truth): Me and my friend (passenger) went to meet up with old friends i hadn't seen in about 5 years. We met up went to one of the kids house and talked. My passenger went inside and grabbed three beers from the house and began to drink them outside he drank 2 of em and kept the third one in his pocket. We then said our good byes and took off (it was like 3 am) He smelt of alcohol and did not want to go home so we just parked in his friends neighborhood and were basically chill there till sun rise and take off to my house.

How we got busted: We were in the truck parked i fell asleep and woke up to a light in my face all i remebered were my shoes were off so i grabbed them to put em on and he told me to stop and open the door so i did.

He placed me against the truck and just began searching me...his partner took my passenger and searched him. He threw me in his cop car asked me how much i smoked and drank told him i had nothing to drink or smoke because i have an Intoxa lock in my truck (dad got a dui) which will lock my truck out if i breath into it with any alcohol in my system. He just kept asking same questions. He searched my truck found the beer my friend had behind his seat
he asked my friend who's it was he told him it was his. He then wrote a ticket for me 23224a. I'm going into the military in 4 weeks IF this ticket is reduced to a fine and not probation etc.. if it is probation i wont be able to join until probation is up....I need advice as to what to do i dont have to appear in court till 10/31 the cop was a complete dick didn't listen to anything i said or wouldn't let me talk. I have no prior offenses arrests anything, didnt know i could get busted for having a beer in my truck not open. any advice would be helpful, how much would a lawyer cost?

Well long story short (srry i know it was long) passenger had a beer unopened.we were chilln in my truck in a neighborhood. I fell asleep woke up to a light in my face cop told me to open the door i did and he put me against my truck began searching me and my truck.

he wrote me a ticket for 23224a. This is my first offense. Big problem: i was reserved a ticket to leave to boot camp in 4 weeks (USCG). He still hasn't proccessed the ticket and has been 5 days.

Is it worth it hiring an attorney for the day to talk to the DA for lightening my punishment? to maybe even a slap on the wrist im trying to get my future started.
I have a breathalizer in my truck and in no way was going to drink because it would have locked my truck out.
I just didn't know i could get in trouble for having a beer unopened in my truck. Any answers will be greatly appreciated. (Im 18 years old)

Consult a local lawyer to see what he would charge to attempt to intervene with the prosecutor's office.

Would it be worth it to bring my friend down with me to the judge and tell him/her that it was his and I had nothing to drink or was intending to drink?

I'm trying to not lose my license. I'd rather be sent to jail do community service and pay a fine then lose my license.
