Child Visitation of a 17 Year Old
My question involves a child custody case from the State of: TN

my daughter is 17 years old and does not want to visit her dad at the moment. what kind of "legal" trouble can i get into? she is the one dealing with him and i heard that she needs to deal with it without me getting into the middle of it. so i just wanted to know if i can get into trouble. she works and has lots of school activities going on.

Do you have a court order for visitation?

If you do, you have to follow that order. Which means that until your daughter turns 18, she does not have a choice. If you refuse to send her, you can be held in contempt of court.

    Agreed.

A court order is just that... an order. Not a suggestion or a guideline.

A court order has the force of law in that you can be penalized by a court for violation.
