Ex-Wife Trying to Change Son's Last Name
My question involves name change laws in the State of: GA
I've recently learned via my son that my ex is getting remarried. During our discussion he mentioned that he would have a new last name. I wish to get in front of this as I do not agree with this. My ex-wife from what I recall has legal and physical custody even though my son is mostly here due to here travels. We have visitation every other weekend and most holidays. Do I have any legal rights in Georgia to prevent this? What is my best course of action?

If your ex intends on attempting to change your son's last name, an action will need to be filed in court, and you will have to be served. At that point, you file your objection and go to court and put it on the record. If you object, it's not gonna happen.

You're very welcome... while I don't suggest you continue to ask your son about this, keep your ear out, and check with the courts periodically to see if any actions have been filed.
