Landlord Forgot to Cash Check
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
Hello,
I've lived in my current apartment since July 15, 2006. My landlord just called me and said he forgot to cash my rent check for August 2006 and the check has now expired. Am I still liable for the rent for that month even though he didn't cash the check and it has been two years? Also, if I am still liable, are there specific plans for repayment laid out in the law or do we need to just work it out between ourselves? I can't afford paying twice my rent in one go. Any advice would be really helpful. Thank you!

You don't balance your checkbook? Yes you have to pay rent and no your not payhing twice because first check was not cashed
Re: Landlord Forgot to Cash Check
Thanks for your reply. What I meant by paying twice was that I would have to pay the rent for this upcoming month as well as the rent from two years ago in one go. Hope that clarifies things.

I missed time span. My bad. Legally you may not owe. I cant be certain but you might get off on this I still dont understand how you didnt notice your bank balance higher than it should have been
