Name This Con
My question involves criminal law for the state of: KY, but this goes for any state, really.
While searching for employment, I often find myself on Craigslist. I have found that there are many ads out there that are posted in many many cities. (Google is my friend)
While some of these just may be large companies, many of them appear to be designed to get information from you. Is this about identity theft, or...is something else going on? Call me naive, but, I can't for the life of me (except in the case of identity theft) figure out how this profits anyone.
Ideas?

Can you be more specific?
What kind of ads, exactly? Do you have an example?

Re: Name This Con
That sort of "phishing" is veiled, quite well sometimes, to get as much personal info from you as possible. The phishers even concoct very authentic looking ads/entries/whatever to dupe the victim into thinking they are dealing with a reputable business, when nothing could be further from the truth!
I even got an e-mail recently from the Bank Of America asking me to go to a link and verify my account info due to my info being possibly "compromised"! I forwarded it to an authentic BOA fraud investigator who immediately confirmed what I already knew....the site was bogus! They even used authentic BOA logos and letterheads.
You should NEVER give out ANY personal info over the 'net to any site that you are not able to independently verity its authenticity!

Re: Name This Con
Well...luckily for me, no one wants to be me...:(
*lol* I have just been wondering because there are so many, and they do seem so real.
They are not the usual make $45. per hour from home in your spare time!!!
But come across as local (even naming local areas...as there are many areas in Louisville that go by different names), the pay does not seem excessive, and sometimes the work seems reasonable. (You can always tell if the work is too easy, and the pay too high)
I didn't want to post an average fake want ad here, as they seem so normal...
