My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Maryland
My boyfriend and I have lived together since August of 2007. My apartment complex sent us a letter to see if we were going to renew our lease or not. I told them that we were going to renew our lease. Since then though, we have broken up and I do not want to resign the lease. Does anyone know if that paper is legally binding. Thanks.

The lease expired on August 11th, and I got a paper in the mail today saying that the lease is ready to sign. I told them 2 months ago that we were going to resign the lease.

What does the existing lease say about renewal, and notice if you do not intend to renew?
The existing lease states that if you do not let them know what you plan to do, the lease is renewed from month to month.
But you let them know you were renewing
What do you mean by "if you do not let them know what you plan to do"? What's the exact language?
The lease says
"This lease contract will automatically renew month to month unless either party gives at least 60 days written notice of termination or intent to move out..."
I am just hoping that the paper that I signed is not legally binding, and that I can change from month to month until I find a place to live.
