    Outed Landlord on Facebook
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Texas

I found my last landlord on Facebook and told all his "Facebook Friends" that he filed ch. 7 and never returned my security deposit of $1895. I also stated he cashed all my checks (5) and never made the house payments on the house I was leasing and I was forced to move out by his bank (Countrywide took ownership upon foreclosure). All this is true and he did file ch.7 (or he states) and he kept my security deposit. He just emailed me and said I will be sued for slander. I did nothing worng in my eyes but does he have any legal issues against me? Facebook is a public forum and what I said is true and he knows it..... Thanks ! My security deposit was $1895 and he since moved to Utah and opened up a new "Sport Cuts" hair salon and is on Facebook driving on new H2 Hummer. piece of crap !

To what end did you do this? Why did you think this was a good idea? What did you hope to achieve from this?

No, he doesn't have a libel case against you, but it could be argued that he's got a harassment/stalking case. Go visit a lawyer and hope your former landlord hasn't already done so.

You can be sued for defamation even if the information you distribute is true - truth or falsity is then determined through the litigation process. Normally, if the plaintiff cannot prove it's false the plaintiff will lose. (There are some circumstances that can reverse the burden of proof.)
