Hot to Hyphenate My Step-Children's Name
My question involves name change laws in the State of: Indiana.

I would like to hyphenate my step-children's names with their current name and hyphenate with my last name. (Example: John Smith-Young) I have been raising the children since they were very young. Their biological father walked out on them when they were very young and I have been here since then. They are now 13 and 11 1/2 years. My wife and the children are all for it. My concern is that their biological father can be somewhat difficult since he recently stepped back in the picture. He gets the kids once a year for 6 weeks otherwise he never calls or emails. This visitian has been going on for about 4-5 years. My wife & I care for the children financially and otherwise. He may send support every so often. I have tried to adopt them all together but he will not agree to it. Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks,
    Dart

Tell the bio dad that you are going to court for one of two things....

Either to legally adopt the children and forever be their one and only true father or to ask the court to go after every dime of arrears he owes up to and including getting his driver's license suspended if he doesn't pay.

    Let him make the call.
