Moving While on Probation
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio
I want to move to Kentucky from Ohio. I am on a 5 year probation for child support having served 1 year with 4 left to go of the probation. For my probation I send in a form each month, I never see my probation officer. My question is do I stand a chance of being granted the right to move and transfer my probation. I am up to date with making my payments. Its the first time I was ever in trouble for anything. I have not been in any trouble sense then.
Re: Moving While on Probation
This will require agreement of the probation agency in the jurisdiction you are moving to as well as the agency where you live.
Do you have a place to go to in Kentucky -do you have a job there . . . .
Re: Moving While on Probation
Transfer of probation must be coordinated between jurisdictions. If you're reporting by mail, though, your probation officer could conceivably agree to let you report by mail from another state without transferring probation to that state. One way or another, the place to start is by discussing this with your probation officer.
Re: Moving While on Probation
just wanted to update you all and say thank you for your advice. I called my PO and there was no problem what so ever with me moving out of state. He said I can just mail him my reporting form each month. It was much easier than I ever thought it was going to be lol. Thank you
