My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Indiana.
I am 16 years old and haven't had a childhood. I was thrown into the adult life at a very young age. I have lived on my own once before, working two jobs. My mother signed away her parental rights and my father is a drug addict. I recently moved in with my aunt. She signed me into job corps, and within a few days I had enough. I now have to search for a plan: B. The only thing that I can think of is emancipation. I found that there are no laws of emancipation in Indiana. The only alternative is Child Protective Services. This however is not an option for me since my mother put my brothers in foster care. I don't know what to do. I can't depend on my father, I don't even know where he is. My father is my legal guardian, but I can't even track him down for anything. He abandoned me at 15 so I had to live on my own and pay bills. My aunt wants to get me emancipated, but doesn't know how, since she isn't my legal guardian. I want to go to school and college, but I don't want to wait until I am 18 to get things done in my life. I can't even go to school without a parents signature. I am considered a dependent, but the only one I can depend on is myself. I need to get emancipated. Are there any ways around it without CPS involvement? HELP ME PLEASE!!!
