The age of consent in Florida is 18. With our "Romeo clause" in this state, until you hit 16, you are TOTAL jail bait, and anyone even suspected of mentioning sex to you is risking getting their gonads handed to them on a platter. After 16, so long as that "dating" doesn't include petting, kissing, or anything else that could even slightly be construed as sexual in nature (including phone calls, emails, text messages, etc.) AND you have your parent's permission, you'd probably be ok. Any "funny business" at any level could result in criminal charges against Mr. Ninteen, and if your parents disapprove of this relationship, they can certainly seek, and likely GET, a restraining order against him.
With that said, if a 19 year old male tells you that sex isn't in the plans for the relationship, he is either gay or lying. Remember, you heard it here first.
Good catch! My bad!
So if that just leaves us with lying, huh?
The sex of the parties means nothing. Age of consent is 18!
