Can Officer Refuse to Show Me Radar?
My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: CA
VC 22349[a] - 80mph in 65.
I had heard that the officer has to 'lock in' your speed on the radar and if you ask, that he HAS to show it to you. I did so and he refused.
I also asked him to write on the ticket that the speed was not locked in and he refused.
Is it required to sign the ticket. I refused at first and officer threatened to take me to jail.
Re: Can Officer Refuse to Show Me Radar?
The quick answer is yes, he can refuse to show you (The Supreme Court ruled so, IIRC). There might be a couple of states that allow you to see it, though. I doubt California is one of them.
Re: Can Officer Refuse to Show Me Radar?
If you refuse to sign the citation he can make you post bond. Signing the ticket only your promise to will appear in court.
