Is It in My Record?
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Puerto Rico
I was caught stealing in Costco Wholesale on October 2005 (maybe i was 13 years old). I think the police gave me a warning since i wasnt sent to jail or anything. I had to sign lots of paper in Costco.
I would like to know if college, job, etc.. will be able to see it? Is it in my record?
EDIT:
I have not receive any calls or police coming from what i know of. Didnt need to get a lawyer or go to court. I just sign the papers from costco which i dont know what was there since i was nervous maybe someone know what it might be? After i sign the paper, i just went back home and wait some weeks for us to forget about it. I stole a PSP game that was in the PSP Bundle that was over $250-$300 and they didnt find the price of the game so i think they put that price for it. They said that if the price was a little higher the police will need to go to my house and investigate.

Re: Is It in My Record?
You do not have a criminal record.
However, your name has been entered into the National Theft Database. Most retailers subscribe.
Your name and social security number will be checked against that database when you apply at any job with a retailer.
Basically, I would cross retailers off your list of potential employers.

Re: Is It in My Record?
Why retailer? is it because i stole in a retailer?
So if I work in BestBuy, CircuitCity, or any computer retailer they can see me in the database.
Does this only affect the retailer or does it affect other jobs/places, college, or anything?
What do u mean by this? "Basically, I would cross retailers off your list of potential employers."
Is there a way to remove it?

Re: Is It in My Record?
Several thousand retailers, large and small, subscribe to the database.
I have never heard of anyone being removed save for those that were put there erroneously.
In other words, when you signed the paper saying you stole, you entered the database.
Since most theft comes from employees, hiring a thief is a retailer's worst nightmare.
