Marriage to an LPR
Hello,
I wish to start my MA studyings in the US in two years. My girfriend (for 6 years) is an LPR and we both live together abroad.
We thought about getting marriaed and we heard that might be a problem.
We heard that in order to get an F1 visa you have to declare that u have no intention to immmigrate. Does anyone know if marrying her might decrease my chances to get an F1 visa?
thanks for your help

Re: Marriage to an LPR
It could, since she's an LPR and it's understood that spouses do not usually like living apart. Green card holders typically obtain them with an eye towards either citizenship or merely living here as a LPR.
You would both need to demonstrate strong ties to your current country of residence - property, family jobs, etc. - to keep your F1 visa from becoming unobtainable.
Consult an immigration attorney prior to either getting hitched or applying for your F1.
