Ohio has no statute governing the emancipation of minors
Any further information can be found in the stickies of the section where you created this thread.
There are only two ways for a minor to be emancipated in Ohio.
One is for the minor to be legally married, which requires permission from your parents and in some part of Ohio, permission from the court.
The other is to join the active armed forces, which also requires parental permission.
There is NO other way to be emancipated in your state. NONE.
Whatever your problem is, you'll have to find another way to solve it.
And what if a child proves their parents to be unfit? Would the courts consider it then or at least take custody away from the parents and give them to another family member?
If your parents are treating you bad and are neglecting you, you need to contact CPS.
In the unlikely event that a court determined the parents to be unfit, it would NOT, repeat, NOT, mean emancipation. Think foster homes. Think ward of the court. It MIGHT mean living with another family member. It might not
The court wouldn't allow me to live with a family member?
On what basis? Third parties can't just waltz into court and try to take custody of other people's children.
