    Shoplifting and Citizenship Application
I have already given the fingerprint some 5 months ago.while waiting for the interview I encountered a legal problem. I have to appear in court for a shoplifting charge of a misdemeanor. I have no criminal background. I have lived in America for 7yrs. what do you think the court will decide? community service, fine, probation or jail time?
then what do you think the immigration services will do? deny the citizenship, delay it by putting me in probation or deport? can I still renew my green card when the time comes if they deny the citizenship?
can I drop my citizenship application now and wait for several years (more than five) since they usually go back and ask only for the last few years?

    I am in Virginia.

We cant predict that. Most likely you're looking at a fine, restitution and probation. More detail than that? Can't do it.

    Hi,
Since this is ur 1st offense, try to work out a pre trial program with the DA, explain to him how this can impact ur Naturalization. And if you ever go infront of a judge, talk to judge to allow you plead not guilty with the sentencing. I'm also in this category, I thank God, I got DA's probation. No court appearance/trial/plea. Ive contacted immi lawyers, though some just wanted my money, some told me that any probation what so ever is counted as a conviction by USCIS. only one told me that i don't need a lawyer, that i'm fine cos i was never convicted. I will let u know how it goes. My interview is next week.
Also be careful of criminal lawyer that you r going to appoint, most will collect your money work out an unfavorable deal. Let them know what you want or else they might advice you inappropriately. May I ask, what state is this incident?

Omission of criminal offense in N400
Is there any implication if you fail to list a criminal offense in your application that occured prior to filling but informed the FAO during interview? Also when do you let the FAO know of any amendment (omission in N400 or changes after N400)? Is there a document you filled, or I should allow the FAO question and then bringing the changes to his/her attention.
