    Entering US Without I-407 Form
My husband has a green card but we moved to France in February so he is planning on filing the I-407. Is it a problem if he tries to enter the US after he has filed the I-407 but before he has gotten the copy of the form back from USCIS (i.e., as a regular tourist)? The other option is to hang on to his green card until after our trip but it will have been over 7 months by then so I'm not sure how that will work out.

If anyone has filed the I-407 before, how long did it take for it to all go through? He will be doing it through the Embassy in Paris. In person. Between 9 and 10 am on a Friday. Gotta love that bureaucracy.

It's my understanding the I-407 filings go through quickly. Once he has filed, he must comply with regular tourist visa requirements, whether he has received the confirmation letter or not.

He is a French citizen with a French passport? He should be able to enter on the Visa Waiver Program.

Yep, he's got a French passport. He turned in his greencard today and it sounds like he should be able to enter the US without problems even if we don't get the form back by then. Thanks for your help.
