Embezzlement By A Minor In Michigan
My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan
My 16 year old daughter was caught stealing from her job in Michigan. She stole jewelry and other items with a value of $300-$700 (my estimate). They have her on tape and are deciding weather to turn her in or not. I did make her return all the stuff.
My question, as a minor what kind of penalties should we expect if they turn this over to the police?
Re: Embezzlement By A Minor In Michigan
Penalties are going to vary, depending on what the actual value of the stolen items is.
Best case scenario, there will be a civil demand, plus restitution, plus a fine, plus possible diversion classes, plus probation.
Worst case is all of the above plus some jail time.
Get her a lawyer.
