    Chapter 13 and Student Loans
My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: IL

Can you file Chapter 13 on student loan debt? What happens if you file for this?

I have under $3k in consumer credit card debt and $1k in student loan debt and I don't have a job!

    No. Student loans are non-dischargeable.

After your Chapter 13, you will have to pay if off...interest and all!

Filing for bankruptcy over $4,000? You would be much better off getting a job and paying off your debts.

(This thread says student loan debt 1k & 53130 says has obscene amt. of student loan debt.)

Then I agree with aaron's post #4 above - *try* to pay off the debt rather than file bankruptcy. I do know you have been having a hard time getting a job per one of your other threads.
