    Emancipation in Texas at 17
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Texas.
Sorry if there is another thread/ question just like this.
I am 16 and living with my parents. I will be 17 in December and my boyfriends parents have agreed to let me move in with them when I turn 17. My parents are Jehovah's Witnesses (religion). They are upset (understandably) that I have not chosen their faith and do not let me 1) participate in school activities 2) associate with friends that are NOT in their religion 3) they have a tracking device on my car 4) and they listen to my phone converstations. It may seem like they are within their rights, but their actions and words cause me emotional and mental pain, almost to the point of suicide. They are not sure whether or not they will call the police if I were to "run away" to live at my boyfriends house when I am 17. I want to be absolutely sure that I can move out WHEN I am 17. Can I be emancipated? I wont be living alone and supporting myself but I WILL be 17.

    No. You can't.

There isn't a judge in the US that will emancipate a minor so that she can live with her boyfriend.

Plus, emancipation does NOT mean living with someone else and having them support you. Emancipation means supporting YOURSELF.

Thanks for the response. Guess I'll just have to hope my parents realize that moving out is the healthier choice fo me. Hope they dont call the cops on me ;)

If you move out without permission, the people you go to are the ones who will end up in jail (you'll just end up back home).

    Is that what you want?
