First, the employees went over the line. Apparently, this "circle the shoplifter" tactic is catching on over at Wally world.
Nuts.
Second, when you refused to show your receipt, you were legally within your right. They were legally within their right to call the police as you could then have been suspected of theft. They would have also been legally within their right to follow you to your car and write down your license number to provide to the police.
Having said that... I would think long and hard about suing wally world. Their legal team is two or three times the size of most law offices.
They do, however, sometimes respond to a simple call to the corporate office in Bentonville.
