Accusation Of Credit Card Fraud During Divorce
Back in the 90's, a few credit cards were opened by myself for my wife to create some credit history for her. She had requested me to do this so I went ahead I did so. Now that we are going through a nasty divorce, she is claiming no knowledge of this happening. Funds were borrowed against the cards and deposited into the joint checking account and then repaid. She claims that this was illegal and that she will press charges. There is currently over 7,000 outstanding on the bill. Was this illegal in that there was no personal gain on my part and I was only doing what she had asked me to do? Does anyone have any insight how this will be handled in the state of Ohio? George.

Who ran up the debt? Who used the cards?

I took the advances, put them in the joint account and then repaid them to build the credit history which was the intent.
