Emancipation in Oklahoma, Moving to Louisiana
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Oklahoma/Louisiana.

My friend (Skyler) wants to come live with me in Louisiana. We are both 17 and my mother is more than willing to let him come live with us. We would like to go through our Senior year together. He is already supporting himself, too because he has his CNA and wouldn't have a problem finding a job. His parents do not mind either as long as they don't have to pay to support him (but they don't already; they kick him out occasionally and he would stay with us for those nights).

We've looked at a Child Care Power of Attorney but a lawyer said it would not carry from Oklahoma to Louisiana unless we were Skyler's family. We've looked at Guardianship but the lawyer said Skyler would be eighteen before the Guardianship was over. So now we're looking at emancipation. He would be living with me and my family, as I said earlier, so a place to stay won't be a problem. We would feed him. He will be working in the medical field, so he would have insurance. He's got a school to go to.

    1. Would this be possible, in any way/shape/form?

    2. What would we have to do?

    3. Since all parties are agreeing, what problems would we face?

    4. How long would it take?

In order to be considered for emancipation he needs to support himself 100% that means he feeds himself, and he lives and pays rent where he is living, hthat doesn't mean he lives with someone.

If only people would read the thread they're instructed to read before posting....

Oklahoma has a narrow emancipation law dealing primarily with a minor's ability to enter into binding contracts. It does not do what you want it to do.
