What Can Be Done?
My question involves emancipation laws for the State of: Oklahoma
My daughter has a friend that is 14 years old. Her parents have pretty much abandoned her about 1 year ago. They both became involved in drugs and only use her as a pawn between the two. Now, neither one really seems to want be responsible for her. They blow into town about every two weeks to say hi and give her 20.00 (separately of course since they are going through a divorce) The father has full custody of her but he's lied to the courts and says that she has lived with him for the last year.
The girl has a summer job and makes good grades in school. She is staying with her boyfriends family and has been for the last year. what rights does she have? She doesn't want to live with her parents as they are both on drugs. Is there any way she can be emancipated? Can she sue her parents for child support so she can have money for food and school clothes ect.? She's wanting some legal help, but doesn't know where to go or who to ask.

Re: What Can Be Done?
She or You need to contact child protective services and report the situation that is going on.

Re: What Can Be Done?
No, there is no way she can be emancipated.
First, in your state emancipation relates SOLELY to the ability to sign contracts and does not give her the right to move out.
Second, there is only one state that will even consider emancipating a 14 year old, that state is not yours, and even in the state in question she would not qualify based on your post.
