New Jersey Driver Pulled Over In New York
My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of: NY
i was pulled over in NYC on the BQE going 80 in a 45...i can assure everyone on this forum that i was not speeding that fast, as i was in my work truck. i was also cited a ticket for following too close. There was no vehicle in front of me at the time of this instance. I would like to know first, how many points would transfer to NJ, and second of all how do I go about fighting this or getting it knocked down. I live in NJ and to travel all the way back to NY is a hassle, but if need be i will do it. The ticket also does not give me a price for either of the violations. Another discrepancy is that the officer had written the wrong date on the ticket as well, and did not answer any questions i had to ask him and completely ignored me the whole time during this process. any assistance would be appreciated. thank you for all your help!

New Jersey assigns points in accord with this schedule.
If you contact the court with jurisdiction over the ticket, assuming a court appearance is not mandated, they can tell you how much the fines are. There may be information on the court website.

im aware of the NJ point system, but i was under the impression that out of state tickets get only 2 points per ticket in NJ regardless of the violation(if it is in fact a moving violation).
