Re: Name Change From Abroad
If you wish to go through the name change process in Florida, you will need to appear in court at the conclusion of the process. Try to coordinate it with a vacation.
Note also, if your husband is not your child's father, the father may oppose your petition.

My question involves name change laws in the State of: Florida
My husband is from Florida and I am Dutch. We reside in the Netherlands, but wish to add my husbands last name to our daughters last name on her birth certificate. How can we arrange this from here. Do we have to be present in court?
You might not be able to do anything in Florida if neither of you are legal Florida residents. To find out what you need to do, try getting a phone consult with an attorney in FL. You can try to arrange that by calling the Florida Bar Lawyer Referral Service at 1-800-342-8011.
