Who Is Going To Find Out About Charges?
My question involves criminal law for the state of: TN
The cop said that because the system is so backed up it might take two years for the paperwork to actually be processed. My friend was caught shoplifting 20$ worth of stuff at a major department store. She was put in the National Theft Database and the police took all the information.
Is there a way that you can call and get your stuff processed faster so that you can hurry up and get your record cleared.
She is worried that her record won't be clear by the time that she applies for college (which will be in a few months, she is 17)

No. Your paperwork has to wait its turn, just like everyone else's.
Re: Who All Is Going To Find Out About Charges?
You can't call and have it dismissed now? Not even if you pay $$ or anything?
Re: Who All Is Going To Find Out About Charges?
What you were told about processing times doesn't seem believable. The statute of limitations for most misdemeanors in Tennessee is one year. Get a reality check with a local criminal defense lawyer.
Re: Who Is Going To Find Out About Charges?
No.
You don't get special treatment just because you realized that your criminal activity may have screwed up your future plans. You have to wait your turn like the rest of the people busted.
Re: Who Is Going To Find Out About Charges?
What about who all will see the record? and background checks and all that stuff
Re: Who Is Going To Find Out About Charges?
Whoever needs to do a background check might pick up the history if the background check done is thorough enough.
