Landlord Put Our House Up For Sale In Florida
My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Florida
We are currently 5 months into a 12 month lease of a house in southwest florida. Was told when we meet owners that they planned on keeping the house for several years possibly selling it to us at that time. We have been told that they are going to put the house on the market now. We are not interested at this time to purchase house. Will the lease be in effect with new owners? We would like to move now (during summer months) so as to not disrupt son's school if we were to find house in different school district. Is this acceptable to terminate lease early? We know at the latest we will be moving in January at the end of the current lease.
Thank you for any input
Re: Landlord Put Our House Up For Sale In Florida
The lease remains in effect. You would probably be asked to sign something acknowledging that your ongoing rent is to be paid to the new owner, not the former owner.
You can discuss with your new landlord the possibility of being released early.
