Sister Caught Shoplifting From Three Different Stores

My question involves criminal law for the state of: North Carolina

I went to the mall with my brother and sister, just like anyone would. Later on i had called my sis that we were leaving for home, she never picked up. frantically i ran around the mall and couldnt find her. Later my dad called me and said that the police has caught her for shoplifting....which i couldnt believe could possibly happen. My sister is 16, well she just turned 16, she has never done anything wrong, very good girl, she is excellent in school with being a honor roll student every quarter, and having a GPA of atleast 4.75. My dad has been shattered by this situation, and couldnt believe she could do anything like this, she has been banned from the mall, which i think she deserves, and also has a court date in about a week. The question is, To get this expunged, and probably over with, if you show the judge school records (report cards) it could help finish the situation, as she is a very innocent girl, and i think some of her stupid devil friends made her do it or something, I had money, everyone had money, and its not like we are poverty stricken or something, money was never the problem. She stole from three stores, forver 21, hello kitty, and also American eagle. if you total the amount of all the stuff stolen, it wouldnt be higher than $15. I am shocked and surprised, but she deserved her punishment. What would be the best to do in this situation ?

expungement is only going to happen after she is found guilty, sentenced and fulfills the sentence, if at all. You need to read up on what expungement is.

this is the first time she has done anything like this, and apparently when she did get caught, she had apparently stolen from one store, and the cop asked her what stores she went to, then brought the people over and asked them how much each item would be worth at the store, and didnt even make them verify that these items are actually from their store !

today we met with a attorney, this attorney
said that she was going to charge us $750 for the whole thing.
she also said that judge could even get her 45 days in jail for first offence ? i dont know what to expect, attorney has also said that she will try to get her into Teen Court (no idea what that is)

Also would this come as a misdemeanor ? the value of the stolen good was not more than $15

You say "we" so I presume you were there? If so why is it you know so little?
