First Step In Child Custody
My question involves a child custody case from the State of: oregon
My case is not too much trouble I hope, my daughter who resides in Alaska want's to come live with us, her mom is willing to give up rights to her and let her come here. We have told her to take the time and think this out, because we would have custody and she would be here until 18 of course with plenty of visitation rights to the mother, this is a mutual decision and I want to know what the first step to getting custody of her is. The daughter in question is 12.

First, is there an existing court order for custody?
If there is, and you both agree, all you have to do is file for a modification of the order.
If there isn't an existing order and you are the LEGAL father, you can agree to a residential change without going to court. That said, I have to advise you that you really should file to establish legal custody because a court order protects everyone involved.
