    Speeding Ticket Near Hayward, California
My question involves a speeding ticket from the State of California near Hayward on high way 880. The speed limit is 65MPH and I think I was doing 70MPH and the ticket I got said I was doing 75MPH under section CVC 22349A. I went to Hayward court and pre-paid the violation amount 169$ to book a court date (June 18th). In case they find me not guilty they would return the money:confused:

Two questions on how do I defend the tkt

1 My cars registration number is wrong on the ticket and the Courtesy note will that lead to a dismissal of the ticket ?

2 It was 2 50 am in the morning when I got the ticket and there were lots of cars speeding (I was jus doing 70 mph on 65 mph limit) and the cop said I passed him when he saw me speeding. Will any this situation help me contest?

I really appreciate your help on this.

    Not likely, no.

The fact that others were speeding does nothing to help you. It's like arguing that four of you spray-painted a wall but only you got caught, so you should be let go because the other three got away with it. Sorry, it just doesn't work that way.

Thanks a lot for your reply. So what are the common grounds that I can contest this tkt ?

If you can convince the court that you weren't speeding, that would be ideal.

Was the cop using radar or lidar? If so, you can ask for copies of the calibration and maintenance certifications of the equipment used and certificates of completion of training. All of the documents he produces in court must be either originals or certified true copies. If not, you can object to their admission as they constitute hearsay evidence. You should also read up on the appropriate statutes that require this info here
