Changing Daughters Last Name In Louisiana
My question involves name change laws in the State of: louisiana. my daughter was born in mississippi her father was not there for the birth so he never signed anything but the hospital gave me a choice on her last name, now that shes 13 months old and hes only seen her once i want to change her last name to mine, remember he never signed anything so hes nowhere on any of her records and hes never helped take care of her. i would really like to terminate his parental rights all together but right now ill just settle with changing her name. we now live in louisiana and he lives in california. please help

    You must first establish paternity

You must get the permission of BOTH parents. Her father is still her father even if there isn't paperwork stating so...Afterall...This isn't another immaculate conception right??

File for paternity/support/custody. Your child has a right to a relationship with BOTH parents.
